Still that girl—just with better jewelry and later reservations.
October is here and the assignment is simple—Do something after dark that gives you something to talk about the next morning.
Because there's something about an October evening that makes you want to linger a little longer. The air feels different. The nights come sooner. The perfume gets a little richer. And suddenly that black dress in the back of the closet is looking like it has somewhere to be.
Maybe it does...
Nowhere requiring bail money though. We are grown.
I'm talking about the night that begins with “I'll come for one drink” and ends with you and your girlfriends laughing in the parking lot two hours later.
The date you almost canceled that turns out to be surprisingly interesting.
Dinner that becomes cocktails somewhere else.
Dancing when you had absolutely no plans to dance.
A little flirting.
A little mystery.
A little “Well...I wasn't expecting THAT.”
We spend plenty of time doing what we're supposed to do. October deserves at least a few nights devoted to what we feel like doing.
Give October Something to Talk About
So before this month disappears, put something on the calendar.
Wear the good jewelry.
Make the later reservation.
Order another round if the conversation is worth it.
Let somebody wonder who you are.
And every once in a while, say yes before your sensible side gets a chance to answer.
Because there is still plenty of life left to live after the sun goes down.
And when you're dressed, perfumed, jeweled and taking that final look in the mirror before heading out?
Look twice.
